27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting takes place in Samoa

From 24 to 26 October, Prime Minister The Hon Anthony Albanese MP attended the 27th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Apia, Samoa. He was joined by Senator the Hon Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs. It was the Prime Minister’s first visit to Samoa as Prime Minister.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Commonwealth and Australia was proud to support Samoa as host of the first CHOGM held in a Pacific island country. It was also His Majesty King Charles III’s first CHOGM as Head of the Commonwealth.

COVID-19 Response Inquiry final report

The final report of the Commonwealth Government COVID-19 Response Inquiry is now available.

The inquiry, led by independent panel members Ms Robyn Kruk AO (chair), Professor Catherine Bennett and Dr Angela Jackson, was established to review the Commonwealth Government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and make recommendations to improve response measures in the event of future pandemics.

Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Annual Report 2023-24

It has been prepared in accordance with the provisions of section 46 of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act), the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule 2014 (PGPA Rule) and the Department of Finance Resource Management Guide No 135. The compliance index in Part 5 lists the information required by the PGPA Act and PGPA Rule and the corresponding page number within this report.

Final report on qualitative research with specific cohorts on their lived experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic

The inquiry commissioned ORIMA PTY LTD to undertake qualitative focus group research with 11 priority cohorts including people with disability, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, parents of school-aged children and young people and mental health support services users, to get a better understanding of their lived experiences during the pandemic. The research was conducted between 21 May and 24 June 2024. The report outlines key findings of the research.
