The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) supports the Prime Minister, the Cabinet and our portfolio ministers to deliver the Australian Government’s priorities. 

From the centre of government, we provide influential and impartial advice. We do this with integrity, judgement and a spirit of partnership, to improve the lives of all Australians. 

Like the nation it serves, PM&C operates in an environment shaped by volatility, complexity and rapid change. Recent global shocks, including disruptions to energy markets, are contributing to inflation and weaker economic growth, affecting Australians. We bring leadership, expertise and trust to issues that are complex, cross‑cutting and consequential. Working in partnership with all levels of government, industry and the broader community, PM&C responds quickly to support the government’s priorities. We lead the Australian Public Service (APS) to align effort, connect perspectives and deliver outcomes that matter. Recent examples include establishing the Office of AI and supporting the Fuel Supply Taskforce. 

Delivering on these priorities require strong capability, sound systems and a clear sense of institutional purpose. Our recent capability review recognised our committed workforce, trusted relationships and strong record of collaboration and delivery. The review challenged us to build on those strengths with enhanced strategic focus, united leadership and effective governance. 

In response, we are implementing a program of capability uplift with a clear focus on improvement, stewardship and performance to ensure PM&C remains well placed to meet future challenges. 

I am confident we will deliver the priorities and activities set out in this plan, and I look forward to reporting on our progress in the Annual Report 2026–27. 

Statement of preparation 

As the accountable authority of PM&C, I am proud to present the Corporate Plan 2026–27. This plan covers the period 2026–27 to 2029–30, as required under paragraph 35(1)(b) of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013. The corporate plan is prepared in accordance with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule 2014.
