FOI disclosure logs

Our freedom of information (FOI) disclosure log provides access to information released in response to a request for an FOI access to documents.

PM&C publishes information released under section 11A of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act). Information on how to make a FOI request is available.

The disclosure log requirement does not apply to:

  • personal information about any person if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • information about the business, commercial, financial or professional affairs of any person if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • other information covered by a determination made by the Australian Information Commissioner if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • any information if it is not reasonably practicable to publish the information because of the extent of modifications that would need to be made to delete the information listed in the above dot points.

Deletions have been made to the documents in accordance with the exemptions available under the FOI Act.

FOI request

On 19 April 2004, PM&C wrote to the Minister responsible for honours policy recommending they seek the Governor-General declare service in Iraq eligible for the Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal. 

PM&C advised the Minister that:

"Following an assessment of service of service in Iraq and consultation with DFAT and Defence, it was agreed that service in Iraq meets the criteria of the medal's regulations and should be declared as eligible service for the medal".

We request a copy of:

  1. the assessment of service in Iraq, and
  2. the documents recording, or evidencing the consultations with DFAT and Defence.

I would like to make a request to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet for the following documents, between 25 March 2020 to present:

  • Advice sought by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet or the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the status of National Cabinet as a part of, or a committee of, the Federal Cabinet, and/or advice sought as to whether state premiers can be members of a Federal Cabinet Committee, in the possession of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
  • Terms of Reference agreed to by the National Cabinet on 24 July 2020 regarding the review of the former COAG Councils and Ministerial Forums.
  • Meeting minutes and agenda from National Cabinet meeting on 24 July 2020.
  • Briefing documents provided to the National Cabinet relating to changes to the EPBC Act.

For further context on the first request, I refer to comments regarding the status of National Cabinet made by the Prime Minister at the press conference held on the 29 May 2020 and by Mr. Phil Gaetjens at the hearing of the Senate Select Committee on Covid-19 on 4 June 2020 (p.13).
