FOI disclosure logs

Our freedom of information (FOI) disclosure log provides access to information released in response to a request for an FOI access to documents.

PM&C publishes information released under section 11A of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act). Information on how to make a FOI request is available.

The disclosure log requirement does not apply to:

  • personal information about any person if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • information about the business, commercial, financial or professional affairs of any person if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • other information covered by a determination made by the Australian Information Commissioner if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • any information if it is not reasonably practicable to publish the information because of the extent of modifications that would need to be made to delete the information listed in the above dot points.

Deletions have been made to the documents in accordance with the exemptions available under the FOI Act.

I would like, under the FOI Act, to be provided with all documents, emails and briefing notes from within the date range 1 August 2019 to 12 November 2019 from the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet to the Prime Minister or his office which provide advice on Australia's emissions trajectory or on whether Australia is meeting and will meet its Paris emission reduction targets.

By advice, I mean documents that:

  • contain anticipated or yet-to-be-made announcements or publications regarding Australia’s emissions trajectory or on Australia meeting its Paris emission reduction targets. This category would include any proposed talking points or speeches,
  • correct or foreshadow corrections to material previously published or announced.
    • Provide warnings or advice to the Prime Minister or his office that new information has become available on Australia's emissions trajectory, or on whether Australia is meeting and will meet its Paris emission reduction targets, but not any published documents/reports attached to that advice
    • documents directing the Prime Minister or his Office to where published, publicly available or announced material may be found, but not any published documents/reports attached to that advice

This request excludes the following:

  • duplicate documents,
  • documents and reports which are publically available,
  • documents that only provide a synopsis or summary of material previously published or announced.
