FOI disclosure logs

Our freedom of information (FOI) disclosure log provides access to information released in response to a request for an FOI access to documents.

PM&C publishes information released under section 11A of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act). Information on how to make a FOI request is available.

The disclosure log requirement does not apply to:

  • personal information about any person if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • information about the business, commercial, financial or professional affairs of any person if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • other information covered by a determination made by the Australian Information Commissioner if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • any information if it is not reasonably practicable to publish the information because of the extent of modifications that would need to be made to delete the information listed in the above dot points.

Deletions have been made to the documents in accordance with the exemptions available under the FOI Act.

I am seeking correspondence between the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Business Council of Australia regarding the development of Australia’s 2035 emissions reduction target and Nationally Determined Contribution.

This request for documents is confined to emails (and attached documents), briefing notes and letters on letterhead from the Business Council of Australia and the Department between 1 June 2024 - 28 November 2024 and 5 May 2025 - 12 September 2025, and excludes publicly available documents and any documents of an administrative nature.

I am particularly interested in representations the Business Council of Australia has made to the Department regarding the desired level of ambition for Australia’s 2035 emissions reduction target, specifically around modelling it commissioned via McKinsey, so I am open to receiving further recommendations for helping to further refine the scope of the request if this would be helpful.
