The guidance on this page is designed to assist Australian Government departments to complete gender equality reporting in their annual reports, to show how their work contributes to advancing gender equality, and to highlight key outcomes and achievements.
As outlined in Working for Women: A Strategy for Gender Equality (Working for Women), the Australian Government is committed to creating a better, gender equal Australia for everyone. Working for Women’s reporting framework identifies a number of ways government will report its progress against this commitment, including in annual reports. Annual reporting is an opportunity for departments to demonstrate how their activities advance whole‑of‑government commitments.
Gender equality reporting will roll out across all Australian Government departments in 2025–26 annual reports, published in late 2026.
