The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet has released a long-term insights report exploring the trends, risks and opportunities that could shape the future of human services.
Human services play a significant role in the lives of Australians, with around 70% of people accessing support services each year, including for employment, health, education, housing and care.
The report brings together community and expert views from more than 8,500 Australians to identify 9 key insights to inform the design and delivery of human services over the next decade and beyond.
The report explores how demographic changes, health trends, technological advances and community expectations may affect the design and delivery of services in the years ahead.
It highlights opportunities to simplify services, strengthen collaboration across governments and communities, and make better use of technology and data to improve outcomes for Australians over the long term.
The report does not announce new government policy, funding, programs or changes. Instead, it supports long-term thinking about the future of human services.
These insights will be a valuable tool for policy makers and future governments to improve wellbeing outcomes for future generations.
