Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

From 1 February 2020, the allocation of responsibilities amongst Government departments will change.

This is in accordance with the Administrative Arrangements Order (AAO) signed by the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), in Council, on 5 December 2019.

The AAO allocates the principal matters Departments are responsible for and the legislation administered by each portfolio.

These portfolio changes were announced by the Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon Scott Morrison MP, on 5 December 2019 where he outlined the reduction of Government departments from 18 to 14.

Full details including a summary of specific changes to responsibilities is available at Administrative Arrangements Order.
