The Northern Territory Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet advises a State Funeral for Mr Lawrence Costa MLA will be held at 9:00am (Australian Central Standard Time) on Wednesday 1 March 2023, at St Mary’s Star of the Sea Cathedral, Darwin, Northern Territory.
Mr Costa was a Tiwi Islander man from Pitjarmirra Outstation, north of Melville Island in the Northern Territory.

The Northern Territory Government has requested half-masting of flags to mark the 81st Anniversary of the Bombing of Darwin on Sunday 19 February 2023.
On 19 February 1942, mainland Australia came under attack for the first time when Japanese forces mounted two air raids on Darwin. The two attacks involved 54 land-based bombers and approximately 188 attack aircraft, which were launched from four Japanese aircraft-carriers in the Timor Sea. On 13 February 2008 the Australian Parliament made a formal apology to members of the Stolen Generations.
