Ms Durham was an enormously talented and successful musician, best known as the lead singer of the 1960s folk/pop group, The Seekers. The Seekers released their debut album, Introducing The Seekers, in 1963. In 1968, they were honoured as Australians of the Year for 1967.

This year’s Australian National Flag Day, on 3 September 2022, marks 121 years since the Australian National Flag was first officially flown in 1901 at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne – the site of Australia’s first Parliament.

Australian National Flag Day is an opportunity for all Australians to observe this anniversary by flying or displaying the flag.

NAIDOC Week is held every year in early July. It is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements, and is an opportunity to recognise the contributions that First Nations Australians make to our country and to our society. In accordance with flag protocol, on the occasion of Her Majesty The Queen’s Official Birthday, the flying of the Australian National Flag is encouraged.

Flag marshals in all Australian Government departments, authorities and related portfolio agencies are requested to fly or display the Australian National Flag on Monday 13 June 2022, to celebrate The Queen’s Birthday. Other organisations are encouraged to follow this protocol. Queensland and Western Australia celebrate the birthday on different dates.

The Honourable Dr Moses Henry (Moss) Cass (1927 – 2022)

A State Memorial Service for the Honourable Dr Moses Henry (Moss) Cass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday 6 June 2022, at Footscray Community Arts, 45 Moreland Street, Footscray, Victoria.

Dr Cass was a highly respected contributor to politics and society. Before entering parliament in 1969, he was a medical practitioner and a research fellow in Experimental Surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne.
