The gender pay gap in Australia’s private sector organisations is 21%. This means that for every $1 men get paid, women on average get 79c. Among Australian organisations who report gender pay gap data to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, 32% of had not conducted a gender pay gap analysis – and of the 68% who had, 25% did not take any further steps to reduce their gender pay gaps.

BETA partnered with WGEA to develop an online, behaviourally-informed Action Planning Tool to help organisations reduce their gender pay gap. The Tool aims to build confidence, increase knowledge and support organisations to take action. WGEA launched the Tool in May 2024. BETA then evaluated the effectiveness of the Tool by analysing user data, embedded survey and interviewing organisations and WGEA staff members.
