Under the Australian Government's Supplier Pay On-Time or Pay Interest Policy, non-corporate Commonwealth entities are required to pay eligible supplier invoices within:
- 5 calendar days for electronic invoices (eInvoices); or
- 20 calendar days for all other invoices, unless a shorter payment period has been agreed with the supplier.
Where an eligible invoice is not paid in full within the required payment period, interest may be payable on the outstanding amount. Interest is paid where the accrued amount exceeds $100 and is calculated at the Australian Taxation Office General Interest Charge (GIC) rate for each calendar day from the day after payment is due up to and including the day payment is made.
