Secretaries Board communique: 17 June 2026

The Secretaries Board met today at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to discuss the following matters.

Strategic outlook

The Board discussed government priorities, strategic issues and emerging risks.

Auditor-General biannual update 

The Board received an update from Dr Caralee McLiesh PSM, Auditor-General, on sector-wide insights from the Australian National Audit Office’s recent work.

Systems of government significance declaration

The Board received an update on implementation of the Systems of Government Significance standard from Ms Stephanie Foster PSM, Secretary, Department of Home Affairs.

Secretaries Talent Council

The Board received an update from Mr Chris Moraitis PSM, Chair of the Secretaries Talent Council, on development of APS senior leaders.

Other business 

The Board noted that the new Impact Analysis Framework will commence on 1 July 2026.

The Board congratulated Ms Jacqui Curtis PSM on her appointment as Australian Public Service Commissioner and welcomed her to her first Board meeting in this capacity.

The Board congratulated Mr Simon Duggan PSM on being awarded a Public Service Medal for outstanding public service in delivering policy initiatives in complex government environments.

The next Secretaries Board meeting is scheduled for 15 July 2026.
