The Working for Women Research Partnership, which brings together a national team of researchers and the Office for Women, released its five-year Research Agenda on 3 October 2025. The Agenda provides details on the research team, data collection methods and outputs, and the themes that will guide the Partnership’s research focus over the next 5 years.

The theme for 2025–26 is high quality, flexible work, with a view to providing government, employers, unions, and industry bodies with insights on job design and workplace practices, to support workforce participation across genders, life stages and industries.

Researchers will investigate the economic benefits of high-quality, flexible work, and explore the barriers and enablers to accessing secure, skill-matched jobs with flexible conditions.

The partnership’s work will value and reflect the views and experiences of a wide range of groups including:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women
  • migrant, culturally and linguistically diverse women
  • women with disability
  • LGBTQI+ people
  • women living in regional, rural and remote areas.
