A State Funeral Service for the Honourable Graham Richardson AO will take place at 11.00 am on Tuesday 9 December 2025 at St Mary’s Cathedral, College Street, Sydney, New South Wales.
In 1983, Mr Richardson was elected to Federal Parliament as a senator for New South Wales. He later served as a Cabinet minister in the Hawke and Keating governments. From 1987 to 1994, Mr Richardson held the following appointments:
- Minister for the Environment and the Arts
- Minister for the Arts, Sport, the Environment, Tourism and Territories
- Minister for Social Security
- Minister for Transport and Communications
- Minister for Health
- Minister for the Environment, Sport and Territories.
Mr Richardson resigned from politics in 1994.
In 2020, Mr Richardson was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the people and Parliament of Australia, to the media as a political commentator, and through philanthropic support for a range of community organisations.
Family, friends, representatives of organisations and members of the public are welcome to attend the State Funeral Service. Members of the public will be shown to seating in order of arrival until the cathedral reaches capacity.
Doors will open at 9.30 am. Attendees are kindly requested to be seated by 10.30 am.
Ushers will be on hand to assist with seating.
