
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has concluded his second official visit to China, marking a further step forward in stabilising relations between our countries.
In Shanghai, the Prime Minister met leading businesses from Australia and China to discuss deepening trade and business ties, including through new markets and innovation in the agriculture, resources, education and services sectors.

The Prime Minister also witnessed the signing of an arrangement between Tourism Australia and Trip.com, the world’s largest online travel provider with over 300 million active users, to promote Australia as a tourism destination.

Prime Minister Albanese also attended a roundtable on steel decarbonisation with major Australian iron ore miners and Chinese steelmakers.
In Beijing, Prime Minister Albanese held his fourth meeting with President Xi Jinping. He also met Premier Li Qiang for their third Annual Leaders’ Meeting and had his second meeting with Chairman Zhao Leji of the National People’s Congress.

The Prime Minister also attended the the 8th Australia-China CEO Roundtable with Premier Li and witnessed the signature of new arrangements on cooperation in trade, agriculture and tourism, including on undertaking a review of the China Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA).

In Chengdu, the Prime Minister met Australian leaders in the health and medical technology sectors. He also welcomed Tennis Australia’s announcement that the city will host the Asia-Pacific Wild Card Playoffs in 2025 for the 2026 Australian Open.

On the final day of the visit, the Prime Minister visited the Cochlear Australia facility in Chengdu. Cochlear has a significant presence and is actively expanding its operations and market reach in China.
