Congratulations to the recipients of this year’s King’s Birthday Honours. The Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, announced the 2025 recipients last night.
The achievements of 830 Australians across community service, science and research, industry, sport, the arts and more were recognised.
The Honours list includes:
- 581 awards in the General Division of the Order of Australia
- 36 awards in the Military Division of the Order of Australia
- 149 Meritorious awards
- 64 Distinguished and Conspicuous awards
‘Every day, and all across the country, Australians are doing extraordinary things with passion, generosity, energy, and resolve. These honours recognise the selfless service, integrity, achievement, creativity, and care that flourish across our country,’ the Governor-General said.
This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Australian honours system, reflecting our modern and diverse Australian community. Like nearly every other country in the world, Australia has a system of honours and awards that recognise citizens for excellence, achievement or meritorious service, and contributions to society.
Our honours system is unique in that it was designed so that anyone can nominate an Australian citizen for an honour, regardless of their background. If you know someone worthy of an award, find out how to nominate.
