Australians welcome the arrival of spring with National Wattle Day on 1 September – a celebration of the wattle and all that it represents to the Australian people.

From firewood, to medicines and food, the golden wattle has many uses. It features in our Commonwealth Coat of Arms, and is a unifying symbol of Australian identity and connection to country.

Celebrate National Wattle Day by wearing a sprig of golden wattle, going on a ‘wattle walk’, learning about the many uses of wattle, or by planting a wattle plant of your own.
