National Wattle Day – 1 September - marks the beginning of Spring each year.
On 1 September each year, we acknowledge our national floral emblem, the resilient green and gold Acacia pycnantha (wattle), just one of over 1000 wattle species available in Australia today.
From firewood, to medicines and food sources, the golden wattle has become a unifying symbol of Australian identity and connection to country and as such is also reflected on our Commonwealth Coat of Arms.
Celebrate National Wattle Day by wearing a sprig of golden wattle, going on a wattle walk, learning about the many uses of wattle, or by planting your own wattle.
