Each year, the Office for Women reports on the representation of women on Australian Government Boards.
Results for 2024–25 reflect achievements and areas for improvement across 4 key targets:
Target 1 requires women to hold 50% of all Australian Government board positions, which has been achieved for the fourth consecutive year, with women holding 54.3% of roles on Australian Government boards.
Target 2 requires women to hold at least 40% of positions on Australian Government boards at the individual board level. This target has been met by 83.8% of boards – an increase from 78.4% on 2023–24.
Target 3 requires women to hold 50% of Australian Government board positions at the portfolio level. In 2024-25, 12 of 17 portfolios met this target.
Target 4 requires women to hold 50% of Chair and Deputy Chair positions on Australian Government boards at the portfolio level. In 2024-25, 9 of 17 portfolios met this target.
