First meeting of the Australian Digital Council - members around a large round table

Prime Minister Scott Morrison today  opened the inaugural meeting of the Australian Digital Council – bringing together Ministers from all state and territory jurisdictions to drive the development of faster and simpler digital services to improve the lives of all Australians.

Chaired by the Hon Michael Keenan MP, Minister for Human Services and Digital Transformation, the Council committed to working collaboratively to drive smarter service delivery and improve policy outcomes.

The Council also discussed projects that are currently underway to break down data barriers between governments, including a data-sharing plan to better understand the outcomes of children in out of home care.

The Council agreed to:

  • Develop a shared approach to sharing data to improve services for people with disability,
  • Examine legislative options to establish a national data system network,
  • Collaborate to transform digital services for individuals and businesses, making it easier to access and engage with government agencies.

The Australian Digital Council will meet again within three months.   Read the communiqué.
