Now more than ever, innovation, adaptability and technology have been core to governments’ collaborative response to tackle the COVID-19 crisis.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has taken to meeting with his counterparts virtually – and with great success.

To date, Prime Minister Morrison has held joint virtual summits with:

  • His Excellency Mr Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore on 23 March 2020;
  • the G20 leaders, hosted by His Majesty King Salman of Saudi Arabia on 26 March 2020;
  • the Honourable Shri Mr Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India on 4 June 2020; and
  • His Excellency Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan on 9 July 2020.

These meetings have become a mainstay during the global crisis and have shown that the potential for video and virtual communication is being realised.

They facilitate the ongoing work to deepen ties and strengthen key relationships.
