The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) was established on 1 July 2019. Prior to this the functions of the Agency were delivered by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C). We are currently working through this transition and some content is yet to be transferred between websites. For the latest news from NIAA visit niaa.gov.au.

Indigenous land and sea management projects across Australia deliver jobs, while also preserving Australia’s unique natural and cultural resources and building economic capacity in communities.

The work done by organisations hosting Indigenous ranger groups and Indigenous Protected Areas protects a diverse range of land and sea country, and provides real skills and employment opportunities in remote and rural areas.

View more details on Indigenous Protected Areas and Indigenous Rangers and find a short description of each project on the interactive project map.
