FOI disclosure logs

Our freedom of information (FOI) disclosure log provides access to information released in response to a request for an FOI access to documents.

PM&C publishes information released under section 11A of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act). Information on how to make a FOI request is available.

The disclosure log requirement does not apply to:

  • personal information about any person if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • information about the business, commercial, financial or professional affairs of any person if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • other information covered by a determination made by the Australian Information Commissioner if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • any information if it is not reasonably practicable to publish the information because of the extent of modifications that would need to be made to delete the information listed in the above dot points.

Deletions have been made to the documents in accordance with the exemptions available under the FOI Act.

I write seeking information under the Freedom of Information Act, and in response to a statement issued by secretary Martin Parkinson on 25 August, specifically:

all documents prepared or distributed by the department (including Mr Parkinson), or originating from the Prime Minister's office but where the department (including Mr Parkinson) were involved and have possession, regarding policy and operational engagement between departments and any Ministers who may be resigning or have resigned, as well as support services for Ministers or former Ministers under such circumstances, including the message Mr Parkinson gave to department secretaries that "a key requirement is that departing Ministers and their office be supported and accorded utmost courtesy and respect".

By Ministers or former Ministers I mean generally, or where named and dealt with individually. The date range for this request should be the period since 21 August 2018 and scope should include, but not be limited to, correspondence involving the department/Mr Parkinson (whether or not via PMO) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Services regarding the above-mentioned issues, noting that the Ministerial Handbook also gives the Prime Minister a role in determining the timing of such arrangements. I note, in relation to any documents pertaining to the former Prime Minister or Ministers, that the FOI Act regards possession as the determinative factor, not source, and these matters are agency business for the department. I advise that I am not interested in duplicate copies of documents or documents that have already been publically released, or media releases, media articles or media statements.
