Our freedom of information (FOI) disclosure log provides access to information released in response to a request for an FOI access to documents.

PM&C publishes information released under section 11A of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act). Information on how to make a FOI request is available.

The disclosure log requirement does not apply to:

  • personal information about any person if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • information about the business, commercial, financial or professional affairs of any person if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • other information covered by a determination made by the Australian Information Commissioner if publication of that information would be ‘unreasonable’
  • any information if it is not reasonably practicable to publish the information because of the extent of modifications that would need to be made to delete the information listed in the above dot points.

Deletions have been made to the documents in accordance with the exemptions available under the FOI Act.

I am seeking the following documents held by Prime Minister and Cabinet about the Insurance Affordability and Natural Hazards Risk Reduction Taskforce:

  1. Any reports, briefings, analysis, or meeting minutes about the ACCC’s Northern Australia Insurance Inquiry recommendation 18.7 for a national home insurance comparison website and recommendation 17.2 review and mandate standard cover. Please search for the period 1 August 2024 to present. Please exclude all other correspondence, external submissions, duplicates, media stories or publicly available documents. Please exclude documents which do not mention the NAII report. Please exclude all documents about other recommendations from the inquiry.
  2. Any internal reports, briefings, analysis or meeting minutes which discuss:
    1. whether the substantial increases in insurance premiums for home and contents insurance or car insurance are excessive; and
    2. whether price gouging, a lack of competition and a lack of transparency are factors in these substantial increases. Please search for the period 1 October 2024 to present. 
      Please include in your search and emails to or from Assistant Secretary Jason Dymowski on these topics. Please exclude all other correspondence including emails, external submissions, duplicates, media stories or publicly available documents.
  3. Any reports, briefings, analysis, or meeting minutes about the need for an independent body such as the consumer watchdog the ACCC or another body to monitor general insurance premium prices to ensure they are reasonable.   4. Any reports, briefings, analysis, or meeting minutes about whether insurance companies should be required to provide policyholders with more detailed breakdowns and explanations about insurance premium costs, including the justification for price changes. With reference to the most recent PM&C annual report (published today) I would like to obtain the details behind the increase in "Security" costs.

Specifically Page 140 lists "Security" cost as $5,698,000 in the 23/24 Financial Year. This compares to just $1,341,000 for 22/23.

My Question: I would like the details of the costs that were included in "Security" for both the 22/23 & 23/24 financial years. If the costs are for provision of contracted work I would like the contract numbers for these costs.

  1. List of the entire delegation accompanying King Charles and Queen Camilla on their trip to Australia including support staff. If planning to exclude peoples names then the peoples job titles only. I am not requesting information on any security personnel.
  2. The guest list for the King and Queen’s reception at Parliament house in Canberra. Again just people’s job titles if you plan to withhold names.
  3. List of the entire delegation accompanying Chinese prime minister Li Qiang including support staff on his trip to Australia in June 2024. Again peoples job titles if you plan to exclude names.
